Vintage 1975 (January) Seiko 6106-8719 DX 17-jewel

automatic watch with faceted crystal

$185

Offered for sale is this vintage 20th Century Japanese Seiko 6106-8719 DX 17-jewel automatic movement watch, dating from 1975 (January) and made at the Suwa plant.

From my personal vintage watch collection.

The handsome dial features a dark cola sunburst dial with silver indicies and ‘blade’ hands. The crystal is the 9-faceted version, so this stands out from the crowd. Has three complications: day, date and push-stem forward date change (all work correctly).

The movement takes a wind correctly, keeps good time over 24 hours.

In very good original condition. The case has some light patination - but importantly has not been polished (original factory lines are intact) and the caseback has no ugly scratches (as many have). The faceted crystal has some patination (as pictured).

Case measures 39mm across, the bracelet is 15cm (diameter) so would suit a smaller wrist (or you could easily replace the locking plate with a longer version).

Please check the photos as they form part of the item description.

Cash or direct deposit sale only. Can freight at buyers expense (must include insurance for damage or loss) or can personally deliver to Macedon Ranges, Melbourne, Geelong or Ballarat CBD’s for a fee. As with any vintage watch I recommend allowing for a service. Where possible (or upon request) a physical inspection is available and always encouraged. Accurate as possible description at time of listing, however like any secondhand item is sold without guarantee or return so please ask any questions before purchase - as any sale is final.

Vintage 21st Century Swiss SWATCH 'Colour The Sky'

GS124 watch and NOS bands

$95

Offered for sale is this vintage 21st Century Swiss ‘Colour The Sky’ SWATCH GS124 Gents watch, estimated as dating from 2003-4. Serial number #931.

The fun and bright design features an airbrushed/Mark Rothko style colour scheme in fluorescent pink, orange, green, purple and blue with a clear blue case. The face has white ‘paddle’ hands that nicely compliment the freestyle, sans font numerical indices.

Comes with two New Old Stock (NOS) replacement watchbands.

A new battery was fitted, worked immediately.

In very good original condition. There is a small amount of patination to the dial (which you could polish out) and the fitted band has some delamination to the factory clearcoat (you can easily fit one of the two NOS ones).

Please check the photos as they form part of the item description.

Cash or direct deposit sale only. Can freight at buyers expense (must include insurance for damage or loss) or can personally deliver to Macedon Ranges, Melbourne, Geelong or Ballarat CBD’s for a fee. Vintage 20th Century Swiss Omega gold-plated

womens Geneve watch

$375

Offered for sale is this vintage 20th Century Swiss Omega ‘Geneve’ gold-plated womens 17-jewel (Reference 511.413 Calibre 625) manual wind watch, estimated as dating from the 1970’s.

The elegant design features a low, rounded rectangle form with gold plated (20 micron) upper body and stainless steel backing plate. The face has a gold-brush finish with fine black hands and matching style indices. Fitted with a fine ‘snake-skin’ mesh gold-plated (20 micron) metal band.

Currently non-running but crystal (no chipping or cracks) and movement appear in very good condition (no rust evident), complete and the mainspring moved freely using a correct watch air-puffer. Being a simpler-style movement means these are easily serviced (as most likely the oils have just dried up). The asking price allows for the service (I recommend Ken Ross watch-repairs of Ashburton (Melbourne)).

In very good original condition. There is patination to the case and crystal appropriate for this being a proper vintage piece and not modern reproduction.

Vintage 1975 (March) Japanese Seiko 6118-7010 17-jewel

automatic watch

$185

Offered for sale is this vintage 20th Century Japanese Seiko 6118-7010 17-jewel automatic wrist watch, made by at their Suwa Plant and dating from March 1975.

The elegant and handsome design features a square, slightly-rounded case that smartly showcases its silver sunburst dial, fine hands and black-on-silver indices. Importantly, it has not been polished – the factory lines are crisp and brushwork all original. The watch has two complications: a date and fast-hack setting for this (both work correctly). It powers up well and kept good time over a 24-hour observation period. A previous owner has replaced the original band (stainless steel with locking latch and extender, made in Hong Kong so dating from pre-1997).

Great gift or treat if you’re celebrating a 50th this year!

In very good overall original condition. There is some patination to the exterior case, appropriate for this being a proper vintage item and not modern reproduction. The crystal is in very good condition, nice and clear with no cracks or ugly scratches.

The case measures 38mm (width, including crown), and band 18cm (diameter) approximately.

RARE Antique late-19th/early-20th Century Melbourne

fob watch winder by Denis Brothers

$125

Offered for sale is this exceptionally rare antique 19th/early-20th Century Australian copper and steel fob watch key/winder, made by Denis Brothers Jewellers. This renowned Victorian firm was founded by French watchmaker and jeweller Sylla Denis (who had emigrated in 1853 for the Gold Rush) and operated from 1857 to 1910 (thoughout the ‘Marvelous Melbourne’ era). In 1861 he was joined by his brother and nephew, the company then moving to its permanent location at 72-74 Bourke Street. It quickly became a well-frequented and highly-regarded creator of watches and jewellery, including wining ‘First Order of Merit for gold and silver jewellery’ at the 1880-81 Melbourne International Exhibition of Arts, Manufacturers and Agricultural and Industrial Products of All Nations. Examples of their output are held in private and museum collections.

The elegant design features a four-leaf clover form in stamped copper, having a swivel-mounted ring and socket a fitted steel shaft with square drive.

If you have an example of this jeweller’s fob watches and no winder, this is an important matching accessory that will add value and practicality.

In very good original condition. Over time the metals have deeply patinated (appropriate for this being a correct antique item and not modern reproduction).

Measures 3.3cm (l) x 1.1cm (w) approximately.

Please check the photos as they form part of the item description.

Cash or direct deposit sale only. Due to weight and risk of damage during freight, local collection only or can personally deliver to Macedon Ranges, Melbourne, Geelong or Ballarat CBD’s for a fee. Where possible (or upon request) a physical inspection is available and always encouraged. Accurate as possible description at time of listing, however like any secondhand item is sold without guarantee or return so please ask any questions before purchase - as any sale is final.

Vintage 20th Century Mens and Womens Omega DeVille

quartz 10kt gold-plated with box and papers

$795

Offered for sale is this set of mens and womens Omega De Ville 10kt gold-plated quartz watches, dating from the mid-1980’s. Comes with one original presentation box (for the mens watch), price ticket and factory sales booklet/paperwork.

Both have had new batteries fitted. The mens watch (movement Cal.1377) worked for over 24 hours, kept good time then stopped. Not sure why, am unable to test as don’t have the necessary equipment – it may simply require servicing. As pictured, the movement appears clean with no obvious corrosion or damage. There is some wear to the case and mesh bracelet. Will come with newly-fitted battery in situ.

The womens watch (momement Cal.1375) has worked without issue since new battery and keeps good time. There is some light wear to the case and mesh bracelet. The face has some small dots and two bracelet links will require repair (as pictured).

Price represents fair market value and overall condition – especially having original presentation box, price ticket and factory sales booklet/paperwork.

Vintage 1974 (November) Seiko JDM 5 Actus 7019-8010

21-jewel automatic watch

$285

Offered for sale is this vintage 20th Century Japanese (JDM) Seiko 5 Actus 7019-8010 (21-jewel 7019A automatic movement), made at the Daini plant and dating from November 1974. A rare find in Australia given the 5 Actus range was only released within the Japanese domestic market. As well as this, pieces from the Daini plant were produced in less numbers than from their Suwa one.

Given 2024 represents a 50th-birthday year for everyone born in 1974, what a great gift!

The design features a stunning silver sunburst dial with attractive ‘sword’ style hands that match nicely with the angled indices. The movement takes a good wind, runs from first shake and keeps good time over 24 hours. Features four complications that all work correctly: day (with English and Kanji), date, push-crown date adjuster and day-forward. The case has not been polished and retains its factory lines. The original band features an extender, and fits nicely on my 19cm wrist (as pictured).

There is some very light patination to the outer bezel (which the price takes into account) but the crystal has no cracks and is clear. The caseback has no ugly marks as often found on many vintage watches. As the service history of the watch in unknown, it is recommended this be arranged by the next owner.

Please check the pictures as they form part of the item description.

Vintage 1968 (July) Seiko Lordmatic 5606-7050 23-jewel

automatic watch

$365

Offered for sale is this vintage 20th Century Japanese Seiko Lordmatic (5606-7050) 23-jewel automatic watch, made at their Suwa plant and dating from July 1968.

The watch embodies Seiko designer Taro Tanaka’s 1960’s ‘Grammar of design’ ethos with elegance, simplicity and strong lines. The lovely silver brush-finish dial is unmarked and nicely matches the polished indices and long hands. Features day and date complications, both of which change over correctly. The day/date quickset also works properly.

The case in in very good condition for a 55-year old watch - has not been polished and has its original factory lines and brush finishing (there are of course some wear marks but no major dents). The crystal is clear and has a very small mark (as pictured), which doesn’t affect the operation but wanted to note for a full item description.

The automatic works started from the first shake and the watch powers strongly. Was test-worn over 48 hours and kept good time.

Please check the photos as they form part of the item description.

Cash or direct deposit sale only. Can post at buyers expense (must include insurance for damage or loss) or can personally deliver to Macedon Ranges, Melbourne, Geelong or Ballarat CBD’s for a fee. Accurate as possible description at time of listing, however like any secondhand watch it may need a service, and is sold without guarantee or return so please ask any questions before purchase (as any sale is final).

Vintage 20th Century 14ct gold-cased Essex Swiss

ETA 17-jewel manual movement watch 2 grams gold weight

$145

Offered for sale is this vintage 20th Century 14ct gold cased ‘Essex’ ladies watch, 17-jewel manual wind Swiss (ETA AS) movement, dating from the 1950’s. Also comes with a ‘Nifty’ brand 9ct rolled-gold-plated clasp. Gold weight of the 14ct case (without the movement and crystal) is 2 grams.

The mechanism does work and takes a wind, however it beats slowly - so will require a service if wanting to put back into service (any competent watch/clock repairer will be able to perform this). There is a dedication on the reverse of the case.

Please check the photos as they form part of the item description.

Vintage 20th Century Swiss Mondaine ETA 2778 25-jewel

automatic watch

$275

Offered for sale is this handsome vintage 20th Century Swiss Mondaine 25-jewel automatic (ETA 2778) watch, most likely dating from 1969 to the mid-1970’s. Founded in 1951 by Erwin Bernheim, the company still remains in operation today. Serial number UB51.

With a stylish case (the lugs definitely reference Rolex’s ‘Explorer’ range) this is a elegant watch that deserves time on anyone’s wrist. The deep blue dial is a particularly striking feature. Has day and date complications which changeover correctly (the day dial has an extra design element, it also shows Monday to Saturday as 1-6 numbers (Sunday is represented as a diamond). The crystal, dial and hands are all in excellent condition.

Likewise, the ETA 2778 movement is in excellent condition (no corrosion), powers up well from first shake and runs strongly. The heat-blued screws holding the automatic works weight are another classy touch. It loses time over 24 hours so will need a service (yes, the asking price takes this into account).

The case has some patination commensurate with its 50 years age (as pictured) but no huge dents or clumsy scratches to the caseback. The factory brushed-finish is in excellent overall condition. It has not been polished and retains the original angles.

Looks great when paired with a vintage leather jacket (last photo, jacket not included).

Please check the photos as they form part of the item description.

Offered for sale is this rare 1980 Pulsar V513-6019 Sport Diver quartz watch. Stand out from the sea of vintage Seikos and Casios with this! In very good condition for a 45 year-old watch, with genuine patination to be expected from one that’s been appreciated and enjoyed by previous owners. Stylewise, the stainless steel case has a similar look to the ‘Darth Vader’ 6139-7000 Seiko (which makes sense because by 1980 Seiko had taken over Pulsar).

The crystal is in very good condition with no chips or scratches, and the crown nips up correctly. The lume has developed a nice yellowing desired by collectors. The original Pepsi bezel insert has some fading but you can source these NOS – the bi-directional bezel itself turns nice and smoothly. The strap can be worn however has stiffened with age (these are available NOS or can be softened with grease), so down the track would allow for replacement. Vintage 1970's Swiss Memosail (Series One)

$1,000

Offered for sale is this rare genuine early 1970’s Memosail watch (Series One). The Memosail (Series One) was made from 1972 to 1975, featuring a UFO-style case in chrome-plated brass. Fitted with the high-quality Swiss 17-jewel Valjoux 7737 movement and waterproof to 100m.

A truly interesting watch, unique in design and great talking piece on your wrist. Its classic status is reflected by Constantin Weinsz releasing a new, limited run in 2019 (using original Vajoux 7767 movements) almost 50 years after first being launched. Series One Memosails have experienced a recent jump in prices, so get in quick! A detailed production history is available at: http://www.regatta-yachttimers.com/brands/memosail/

In excellent original condition, the crystal presents very well and case has only a small amount of wear. Being 50+ years old, it shows a gentle patina that reflects the history of use. It winds, keeps good time and holds power well over 24 hours. The 10-minute ‘Race Start’ countdown wheel does move and chronograph timer did reset when initially purchased (but not currently).
