STUNNING Antique 19th Century carved walnut chair shabby chic

2 x Vintage 20th Century Australian Mid-Century Modern

chairs possibly by Noblett of Adelaide

$140

Offered for sale is this attractive matching pair of vintage 20th Century Australian Mid-Century Modern dining chairs, estimated as being produced from the 1960’s to 1980’s. Despite research the maker could not be directly attributed, although a strong possibility could be Noblett (of Adelaide, South Australia).

Referencing Mid-Century Modern Scandinavian examples the well-made design of each features a multi-part construction in a hardwood (most likely teak) with textured tan vinyl and cloth webbing.

Both had their timber nourished using a natural beeswax to enhance and protect their patination.

A comfortable, handsome and useful set for any home.

Both in very good overall original condition. There is patination appropriate for these being correct vintage items and not modern reproductions. Please note this includes an extremely light mark on one (hard to see but noted for a full item description). The asking price takes all this into account.

Please check the photos as they form part of the item description.

Cash or direct deposit sale only. Can freight at buyers expense (must include insurance for damage or loss) or can personally deliver to Macedon Ranges, Melbourne, Geelong or Ballarat CBD’s for a fee. Where possible (or upon request) a physical inspection is available and always encouraged. hinged and collapsible trolley with removable tray

$175

Offered for sale is this unique vintage 20th Century Australian industrial mobile hinged (and removable tray) trolley. Estimated as dating from the 1970’s to 1990’s.

The heavy-duty design features a multi-part steel construction, hinged trolley form with custom-fitted removable tray and castors. Painted in a matt white enamel. Mounted side-straps neatly fit into custom-made wing-nuts which allow the trolley to be easily compacted for storage or when not in use.

Could immediately be used as-is or you could add an insert (to raise the depth while still keeping an exterior lip). Another modification would be to file out two of the tray-mount holes, allowing for the tray to be reversed and have a flat surface.

In very good overall original condition. There is patination appropriate for this being a correct vintage item and not a modern reproduction.

Measures (with tray fitted) 83cm (h) x 78cm x 46.5cm (the tray being 5cm deep) approximately.

2 x Upcycled Vintage 20th Century Australian bedside tables by Belvedere of Melbourne

$125

Offered for sale is this fun and handsome pair of upcycled pair of matching vintage 20th Century Australian bedside two-draw tables, made in Melbourne by Belvedere Furniture of Oakleigh (retailed by Myer) and estimated as dating from the 1960’s to 1970’s. Originally founded in 1896 this company produced a wide range of highly-regarded interior pieces (especially Mid-Century Modern styles post-WW2) and remains in limited operation today. Each has a single ovoid metal factory tag fitted, factory stamping and retailers label.

Modelled on 18th/19th Century Georgian examples, the handsome design of each features a multi-part timber, masonite and laminate construction bedside table form with applied hardware and decoration. Their original surfaces have been ebonised using a mid-gloss black paint and gold pin-striping - which smartly breaks up their lines and adds elegance. The hardware consists of long, Georgian-style cast metal handles with applied gilding.

Through use by previous owners, each has taken on a unique patina.

Always nice to have a pair, these would make a great decorative (and useful element) for any home or business. Both could also be further decorated (eg detailing sides, adding legs and/or extra hardware to the sides) to increase value for resale.

In very good overall original condition. There is patination appropriate for these being correct vintage items and not modern reproductions. Please note this includes having some light wear to the paint, occasional loses/wear to the base and one top having some expansion/splitting. The asking price takes all this into account.

Each measures 53.5cm (h) x 66cm (at widest) x 37.5cm (d), the draws (internally) being 27.8cm (w) x 17cm (deep) approximately.

gilt copper yöngchap bowls

$75

Offered for sale is this fun upcycled vintage 20th Century occasional/coffee table, most likely originally made in Australia and estimated as dating from the 1970’s.

Inspired by Georgian Neo-Classical Revival examples, the design features a multi-part timber construction low table form with applied decoration and bevilled clear glass inset. A ‘Chinoiserie’ red lacquer-style paint scheme has been added over the original finish. There is attractive detailing on each leg, the upper corners having impressed foliate ovoid medallions and elegance of the lower leg emphasised with use of recessing that follows its shaping. A lower storage surface has been fitted with a backed woven rattan/bamboo.

2 x Vintage 20th Century Australian Mid-Century Modern swivel chairs by ULTRA of Melbourne

$245

Offered for sale is this stunning matched pair of vintage 20th Century Australian Mid-Century Modern swivel chairs, made by ULTRA Furniture and dating from the 1960’s (possibly from a production run in 1963). Based in Melbourne (as part of Dunlop Australia) ULTRA offered a broad range of well-regarded domestic and commercial furniture from the 1950’s to 1980’s. Each has its original cloth factory tag and is hand-numbered, ‘63 9/4’ underneath the base – so may be part of a special order or limited production.

The quality, eye-catching and comfortable design features a multi-part construction in moulded clear smoky plastic, electric blue velvet and chromed metal swivel bases (with chrome-paint plastic sleeves). The swivels all work smoothly and chairs spin freely. Each was lightly cleaned before sale.

Vintage 20th Century Australian Mid-Century Modern

carver chair by TH Brown of Adelaide

$695

Offered for sale is stunning vintage 20th Century Australian Mid-Century Modern tasmanian oak and vinyl carver chair, created by famous South Australian firm TH Brown and estimated as dating from the 1960’s. Established in 1911 and still in business today, T H Brown & Sons is rightly-regarded as one of Australia’s best Modernist furniture producers of the 20th Century. Original pieces are highly sought after and very collectable, often being sold through major auction houses.

Vintage 20th Century Chinese Famille Rose

glazed garden seat

$375

Offered for sale is this vintage 20th Century Chinese Famille Rose glazed ceramic garden seat, made post-WW2 and most likely dating from the 1960’s to 1980’s. Despite research the maker is unknown, but would probably be from the Jingdezhen region.

On the form of an antique Chinese drum, the charming hand-decorated (not transfer printed) design features classical Buddhist, Feng Sui and ancient Chinese symbols of good luck, wealth, prosperity, familial bliss and long life. Dual repeating main panels depict a pair of cranes amongst multiple lotus blossom and foliage, set in a watery landscape. Each dividing ‘side’ consists of a repeating pierced gallery and stylised Feng Sui symbols. An upper Ruyi collar leads to the seat, with pierced centre (another Feng Sui element) surrounded by a repeat of the watery landscape found on the main body.

With a great amount of positive Feng Sui, this is a stunning decorators piece that can be enjoyed in an outdoor as well as indoor setting (as pictured, set pieces not included). A previous owner has placed three pieces of protective material on the base to stop any floor scratches.

In excellent original condition, no cracks or losses. Was carefully cleaned before sale, however the dust of ages built up over time in the pierced galleries was left in place out of respect for that patination (as well as confirming its authentic nature as a vintage piece and not modern reproduction).

Measures 46cm (h) x 34cm (diameter, at widest) approximately.

Please check the photos as they form part of the item description.

Cash or direct deposit sale only. Can freight at buyers expense (must include insurance for damage or loss) or can personally deliver to Macedon Ranges, Melbourne, Geelong or Ballarat CBD’s for a fee. portable side table

$75

Offered for sale is this vintage 20th Century Indian-made Sheesham-wood hardwood portable side (or coffee) table, most likely dating from the 1960’s to 1980’s.

The hand-carved design features stylised classical Indian foliate patterns; the central boss inset with a floral emblem. Each leg features stamped and hand-worked patterning and is cut in the form of a peacock with its plumes showing.

Often called ‘Indian Rosewood’, apart from its natural deep red colour one of the great qualities of Sheesham wood is its durability by being resistant to termites.

STUNNING Antique 19th Century carved walnut chair

shabby chic

$395

Offered for sale is this stunning antique Victorian 19th Century carved walnut high-back lounge chair, estimated as dating from the 1860’s to 1880's and a masterpiece of the furniture-maker’s craft. The sort of unique chair you might see on an episode of ‘Salvage Hunters’, a genuine statement piece. One that stylistically finishes a room with ‘wow’ factor and sets the design tone for your home. You’ll not find another like this any time soon.

Would suit your warehouse apartment, shabby chic country residence, hipster bar or next to the castle fireplace.

Delicately carved in French Revival style with scrolling foliate elements but not completely over-the-top or frivolous. This chair reflects an artist’s balance between creativity and restraint (eg undecorated back rail). Sinuous curves flow and delight, there are small quality florishes such as tight scrolling and carved elements where none would be necessary – purely to show skill and design. The quality of the carving reflects a masters hand.

What could be the original upholstery has been left as-is, in all its delicious shabby chic glory. Personally I wouldn’t re-upolster it (however that’s up to the new owner). Castors are original Cope & Collison with porcelain rollers.

The walnut has been carefully nourished with a light application of natural beeswax. A charming sign of how valued this chair was by previous owners is the ancient repair to the back left leg. The chair is still sound and oh-so-comfortable to relax in.

In good overall original condition. There is patination appropriate for this being a correct antique item and not modern reproduction.
