UNUSUAL Vintage 20th Century Chinese

Offered for sale is this unusual vintage 20th century Chinese plated octagonal trinket box, estimated as dating from the 1980’s.

For any dungeon-master (no, not that kind – the RPG-playing kind), this would make a great holder for your dice!

Taking inspiration and elements from Medieval, Gothic and Roccoco, the design features a cast lidded bowl form (in a heavy metal and then plated) of flared octagonal shape with exterior decoration. The lid has a series of eight rhombus panels with a repeated, half-round border. Set against a textured ground, each panel has a repeated foliate element. The chunky finial has an angled, seven-pointed star uppermost and wonderfully tactile repeated cabochon band below. The flared sides of the base have a repeat of the style seen on the lid, however have a different triumphal foliate element. The lid has a moulded lip with locks smartly into the base to stop it sliding off. Along with its substantial weight, completing the idea of sumptuousness and luxury the interior is well-lined in a deep blue velvet.

In very good overall original condition. There is patination appropriate for this being a vintage and not modern reproduction.

RARE Vintage 20th Century rawhide/buckskin shirt

American Indian style

Offered for sale is this unusual vintage 20th Century buckskin/rawhide shirt. Appears to have been hand-made, so possibly a one-off garment (and would have taken a lot of effort to make).

A rare find in the Australian market! A great addition to your cosplay collection, theatre/costume piece or boho wardrobe.

Influenced by antique/vintage North American Indian examples, the design features a multi-part design in pierced buckskin/rawhide. Apart from one vertical seam across the upper shoulder panels, all pieces have been woven together with buckskin/rawhide cord (also used as trim, tassels and lacing). Four white metal eyelets have been added to the front collar to allow lacing (please note two are missing, but could be replaced). In good overall original condition.

There is patination appropriate with this being a proper vintage item and not modern reproduction. Please note this includes some marking/staining (which actually adds to its vintage look), one loose area of cordage (under the right shoulder) and very small repair needed at the reverse of upper shoulder panels (lower). The asking price takes all this into account.

As no tag is present, the shirt is an estimated Small (S) to Medium (M) approximately.

Secondhand HASBRO Transformers Optimus Prime

Offered for sale is this used 21st Century HASBRO Transformers Optimus Prime action helmet, made in China and dating from 2011.

The multi-part construction is formed from moulded plastic with a rubberised headstrap. There are two voice (button activated) settings, saying a variety of short random sentences and a transformer sound (both were tested and worked) – which also triggers blue LED’s in the visor (this also worked).

Great for party fun, cosplay, etc.

In playworn condition.The battery compartment (lid is included) is clean with no corrosion. Batteries not included.

Offered for sale is this collection of three vintage late-20th/early-21st Century Chinese historical reproduction costume/cosplay caps, most likely dating from the 1990’s to early 2000’s. The quality and construction of these appears better than brand-new versions available.

Included is a:

- Black felt and gold silk (lined with red cloth) on card, Qing Dynasty-style ‘Palace’ Imperial cap with an embroidered central ideogram surrounded by two golden dragons. Surmounted by a golden ball finial with red tassels. Size 58.

- Black, blue and red cloth (lined with red cloth) on card, Qing Dynasty-style ‘Landlord’ cap with an embroidered ideogram on a black cloth ground. Size 60.

- Black silk Qing Dynasty-style Imperial Courtier, Scholars or Court Official folding cap. Unlined, and folds neatly when not in use.

All in very good original condition, there is some internal fading to the red cloth and occasional patination.

Vintage 20th Century costume jewellery metal bracelet

Offered for sale is this vintage-20th Century costume jewellery plated metal bracelet, Made by ‘Aurora’ and estimated to date from the 1970’s to 1990’s. There are (and have been) various costume jewellery brands called ‘Aurora’ but despite research its country of origin is unknown.

The design features five interlinked notched shields each with a repeating, stylised three-tier pagoda surrounded by four kanji-style characters. The base metal is finished in a soft, silvery-gold gilt-metal wash. Great for cosplay or enjoyable adornment.

Appears to be in either New Old Stock (NOS) condition or has only been lightly worn.

A fantastic example of ‘imagined retro future’ styling. Features bold, angular tailoring with large press-studs and vented shoulder patches. This is a quality garment and well constructed.

An excellent base garment for a cosplay creation or getting your retro look on.

Has never been used, still has the original inspector’s tag!

With its use of jewelling set against a black background and gold case, this glamorous evening-wear/cocktail item (very ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s) is a perfect match for that little black dress or rockabilly number.

Vintage 20th Century Australian WRAAC/RAN(?)/costume dress naval jacket

Offered for sale in this unusual item of vintage clothing, made by David Lack Pty Ltd of Melbourne and most likely dating from the 1950-60’s. This firm was responsible for tailoring jackets for the 1956 Australian Olympics team.

Having researched the garment’s buttons and overall design, it could be one of the following:

- A dinner/dress uniform jacket for the Women's Royal Australian Army Corps (WRAAC). However there is only one WRAAC button (versus two naval ones) and the garment design doesn’t appear to match any used by the them from the 1950’s onwards.

- A dinner/dress uniform jacket for the Royal Australian Navy (RAN). However whilst there are two fouled anchor buttons at the collar, they don’t have any stampings or ordnance marks. Also the garment design doesn’t appear to match any used by the RAN from the 1950’s onwards.

- A costume item, modelling a late-18th/19th Century English Royal Navy officers dress jacket and made for the Flagstaff Hill Maritime Museum in Warnambool. David Lack Pty Ltd is recorded as creating costume items for them.

Whatever the history, it’s a useful and well-made item for either static display, historical re-enactments, fancy dress or cosplay/LARPing.

Estimated as a size Large (L) approximately.

RARE Vintage 20th Century 1930's Australian leather motorbike jacket (by Simpsons) and gaiters

Offered for sale is this rare vintage 20th Century Australian leather motorcyclist’s long-coat and set of matching leather gaiters/putees. Most likely dating from the 1930's, the longcoat was made in Richmond, Melbourne by the well-known Australian firm of Simpsons Gloves Pty Ltd (in business from 1924-1988). The maker of the gaiters could not be identified.

Great display items for a museum, vintage motorbike runs, daily wear (eg Goth/Steampunk) or cosplay (perfect American Rocketeer look). Complete the look to match your vintage motorbike – very WW1 Despatch Rider!

In a rich dark brown the leather has that lovely patina that only comes with genuine age and use. The lining is in also in amazing condition given its age of almost 100 years. The gaiters/putees are made from very thick leather, good quality and not flimsy (possibly ex-military but cannot find any MoD stamps).

All three pieces in overall very good condition. There is patination appropriate for being vintage items and not modern reproductions. Please note that the jacket belt is not present and one gaiter/putee top-strap will need a repair (as pictured).

The sizing tab has worn away, however would estimate to be around a Mens 38 (I am a 42 and it fitted but was a little tight across the shoulders and slightly short on my arms). The length is 110cm, so is a ¾ coat. Both gaiters are 30cm (h).
