2 x Vintage 20th/21st Century Batman toys Tumbler Vehicle (2005) and Figure (1998)

Offered for sale is this set of vintage 20th and 21st Century Batman ‘Batman Begins’ Mattel Toys (2005) Tumbler action vehicle and Kenner Toys (1998) figure from ‘Batman: The animated series’. Several versions were made of the Tumbler vehicle, however this is the first (and arguably better-looking) release. For sale together, will not separate.

The heavy and well-constructed design of the Tumbler features a multi-part plastic resin form with action accessories: two pop-out hook launchers and electronic sounds/LEDs (a red glow and blast sound from the front guns, and red/orange glow and jet-engine sound from the rear afterburner) which operate from three buttons located on its roof. All these features were tested and work properly; the wheels roll freely and launchers retract correctly. The Kenner resin figure follows the design and polychrome colour scheme of the animated Batman from the series, with his scale fitting into the Tumbler cockpit nicely.

In very good overall original, playworn condition for both items. The Tumbler is missing its two red, pronged hooks from the launcher and the Kenner figure does not come with an original cape (but you could easily make one).

Batteries are included. Ongoing sense of vigilante justice and ongoing angst – not.

The Tumbler measures 12cm (h) x 32cm (l) x 20cm (l) and figure 12.6cm (h) approximately.

HUGE collection 20th/21st Century vintage Lanard

'The Corps' toys

Offered for sale is this huge collection of vintage 20th/21st Century Lanard ‘The Corps’ action toys, figures and accessories, dating from 1986 to 2006. Started in 1978, this company has had a ‘colourful’ past producing toys that were close/near/clone copies of other companies (such as Kenner, Mattel, etc) successful lines. The irony is Lanard now produced licensed toys, how times change! These were produced with an eye towards budget-conscious families who couldn’t afford official products or just didn’t care. One of their most popular lines were ‘The Corps’ – a GI Joe copy that was made from 1986 to 2018. Given the expense of collecting GI Joe, these are now coming into the radar of toy collectors. The time to buy is now!

For sale as a group, WILL NOT separate. Included are:
- 2001 attack helicopter
- 2004 ‘Special Forces’ patrol boat (note gun accidentally on launcher, so this is complete)
- 1986 ‘Tactical Assult’ tank
- 2003 Desert Vehicle and assault launcher (note broken hitch post (as pictured) but still caught in trailer so it could be reattached)
- 2006 ATK mission/command humvee (note one broken door mount, this could either be repaired or a new part 3-D printed)

Collection Vintage 20th Century MECCANO and STEEL TEC metal assembly sets and booklets

Offered for sale is large collection of vintage 20th Century MECCANO (France) and STEEL TEC (USA) metal assembly toy models, parts and catalogues. The world-famous MECCANO started production in the early 20th Century and production continues today (under the Canadian toy company Spin Master). The STEEL TEC system (made by REMCO) only retailed for five years (from 1992 to 1997) and offered a variety of designs (including licensed Star Wars and Harley Davidson models). For sale as a collection, will not separate.

The MECCANO (most likely from their Erector series) Go Kart (dating from 1990) is fitted with an electric motor (not tested, and the cover is not present).

The STEEL TEC vehicles are a: tractor with front-end bucket, mobile crane, hot rod with trailer and solo trailer. There are several bags of loose parts, so others can be built.

There are four French MECCANO catalogues and one from Chinese Construction Models (all in very good condition).

The company operated until 1974 when production was moved to New Zealand before ceasing in the 1980’s. For sale as a set, will not separate pieces.

Antique late-19th/early-20th Century parquetry

Offered for sale is this charming antique late-19th/early-20th Century English marquetry travelling cribbage board, estimated as dating from the 1880’s to 1920’s.

The well-constructed design features a low, rectangular form with inset marquetry. There are two holes at either end, each having a movable metal tab to internally hold the playing pegs (please note none are present). Rather charmingly, the original sales price is written underneath – ‘1/6’ (one shilling, six pence).

Measures 1.5cm (h) x 17.5cm (l) x 8.8cm (w) approximately.

In excellent amazing condition. There is some light patination, appropriate for this being a proper antique item and not modern reproduction. Was carefully nourished with a natural beeswax to enhance and protect the timber.

Offered for sale is this vintage 20th Century English diecast model Lightning jet fighter, made by MATCHBOX (Code SB21, as part of their ‘Sky Busters’ range) and dating from 1977.

Painted in Royal English Air Force livery. This example has obviously been in a Cold War dogfight (probably against some sort of MiG), as the pilot has ejected (the canopy is missing) and one of the missiles has malfunctioned (its warhead is missing). Antique/Vintage 20th Century German porcelain half doll

Offered for sale is this antique/vintage 20th Century German glazed porcelain half doll pin cushion figure, estimated as dating from the 1900’s to the 1930’s. Despite research the manufacturer is unknown. Factory impressed ‘BT 1/0’ on the lower reverse.

The pretty design features a polychrome decorated figure of a woman wearing clothes of a ‘lady of court’ from Europe in the mid-to-late 18th Century. The painting on the face is particularly well done (especially as some mass-produced examples lack quality in this area).

In very good overall original condition. There is a very small wear spot on the nose-tip and small loss to the bottom of the right sleeve (both of which could be easily repaired if desired – I recommend The Doll Hospital in Malvern, Melbourne).

Vintage 20th Century wooden childs toy horse and soldier

Offered for sale is this charming vintage 20th Century wooden and enamel-paint childs toy, made post-WW2 and estimated as dating from the 1950’s to 1960’s. Produced in China.

Using a cream, red, black and blue colour-scheme, the design features a stylised soldier mounted on a white horse. Set on four wooden rollers, there is a mechanism which bobbles the soldier and horse’s head along as it moves forwards.

Delightful decorator’s piece for any home or business.

In playworn condition, which over the years has created a wonderfully unique patination (appropriate for this being a proper vintage item and not modern reproduction).

3 x Vintage 20th Century Australian school/educational posters

Offered for sale is this group of vintage 20th Century Australian school/educational posters, most likely dating from the 1950’s to 1960’s. Despite research the artist is currently unknown.

Originally produced as part of a domestically-published book series: ‘The Happy Venture Playbooks/Readers’ (where the characters were known as Dick and Dora), the bright and colourful images depict: Dick climbing a tree and reaching for a ball, Dora playing with a doll and the same doll alone on a grassed area. They feature a large coloured band (either red or blue) below each scene (which may have assisted with the learning lesson).

In very good overall original condition. They have all been mounted onto a loose backing card (that a conservator could remove if required) with two hole-punches added at the top. Each has a small amount of storage/use wear and some occasional folds, reflecting these being proper vintage items and not modern reproductions.

The two larger posters measure 45cm x 56.5cm, and smaller 30cm x 44cm approximately.

Vintage 20th Century Australian Rheopaipo

Offered for sale is this vintage 20th Century Australian-made ‘Rheopaipo’ wave/skimmer board, most likely dating from the 1990’s. Founded in 1991 (on the NSW Central Coast) by John Holmes, Rheopaipo went on to produce a range of highly-regarded, well-made and innovative body- and wave/skimmerboards (as well as sponsoring a series of successful professional riders) before the business closed in 2006. Sadly John passed away in February 2020 after a long illness.

The bright and eye-catching Pop Art style design features a repeating group of World War Two Curtis P-40 Warhawk fighters shown in various scales and angles. These are set against a ground of coloured sunbursts that reference those seen in the 1960’s ‘fighter jet’ work of American artist Roy Lichtenstein. Alongside the planes there are two ‘drippy’ versions of the Rheopaipo logo. The reverse features the company logo in pale blue on a cream ground.

A fun wall-art piece of domestic surfing history for any home or business.

Based in the North Island town of Taranki, Fun Ho! was started in 1942 by Jack Underwood and eventually produced a wide range of over 250 diecast models. The company continues to operate today, casting handmade limited pieces when orders permit.

Offered for sale is this unique vintage 20th Century Australian-made shedwork British Petroleum (BP) petrol station, most likely dating from the 1960’s to 1970’s. The NMRA Roadside Assistance sticker indicates this was most likely originally constructed in NSW.

A one-off piece of both Folk Art and Petroliana/Garaganalia that was probably made by a parent/grandparent for their child. Constructed from wood and painted in enamels, this is nicely detailed and great fun.

Great for any automotive collector, display your model cars!

Overall in very good condition, there is one very small crack in the Lubrication Bay/Workshop (that could be repaired) and one bowser is missing (that could be easily recreated).

LARGE Vintage 20th Century Hong Kong New Bright Co battery-operated steam locomotive

Offered for sale is this vintage 20th Century Hong Kong-made (pre-China takeover) plastic battery-powered plastic locomotive, made by the New Bright Industrial Company Ltd and dating from 1981. Founded in 1955 and privately owned, this successful toy company remains in business (and has become the world’s leading manufacturer of remote-controlled vehicles).

Named the ‘Denver Express’ and modelled on a classical American 19th Century steam train – complete with cow catcher! The electronics take 3 x ‘C’ batteries, which drive both the engine motor and create smoke (they are currently not working).

A fun and bright decorative item for any steam enthusiast.

Vintage 20th Century (1992) USA Playmates Toys

Offered for sale is this vintage 20th Century USA-made Playmates Toys Star Trek: The Next Generation USS Enterprise-D electronic model, dating from 1992. Playmates Toys took over production rights for Star Trek collectables from 1992 to 1999, successfully making a wide range of action figures and accessories.

The design is of course a detailed representation of the renowned Star Fleet Galaxy Class vessel Enterprise NCC-1701-D, famously captained by Jean-Luc Picard. Unfortunately a Klingon Bird of Prey had de-cloaked and attacked the Enterprise just prior to it coming into stock. The resulting damage to both warp drives required their jettisoning to save the entire vessel (so are not present). There were some hull breeches and a few crew losses (including Crewman No. 7 sadly), but shields are currently still 90% functional and holding. This attack was of course in breech of the Organian Peace Treaty.

In overall good, lightly playworn original condition. With the Klingon attack there has been some areas of upper hull damage (translation: yellowing to the plastic) which could be addressed by taking the vessel to the Utopia Planitia Shipyards (translation: using retrobrightening to restore the original colour). With new Dilithium crystals fitted (3 x AA batteries) all four sound buttons work, so the vessel can still use (impulse and full) warp-speed, launch photon torpedoes and use its phaser.
