by Christian Veilskov
$135
Offered for sale is this vintage 20th Century Danish Art Deco-style silver pendant, created by renowned designer Christian Veilskov and dating from 1963 to 1975. Based in Copenhagen, Christian is known to be working as a highly-regarded Modernist (and classical) silversmith from 1963 until his passing in 1986. Hallmarked ‘CHR.V. 830S’. Weight 4 grams.
With an elegant design reduced to a streamlined, stylised form Christian has depicted a leaping gazelle contrasted against an organic, foliate background (possibly a reed or grass) and set in an oblong frame.
You can easily see the influence of Art Deco in this charming piece of Scandi silver design.
In excellent condition. Over time the silver has patinated as you’d expect from a correct vintage piece of jewellery and not modern reproduction.
Measures 3.9cm (h) x 3.5cm (w) approximately.
Please check the photos as they form part of the item description.
Cash or direct deposit sale only. Can freight at buyers expense (must include insurance for damage or loss) or can personally deliver to Macedon Ranges, Melbourne, Geelong or Ballarat CBD’s for a fee. Where possible (or upon request) a physical inspection is available and always encouraged. $95
Offered for sale is this pair of vintage 20th Century Borneo handcast brass ear-lobe stretchers, estimated as dating from the 1970’s to 1980’s. Used by the Dayak peoples, their purpose is to extend the earlobes to highly-exaggerated lengths that symbolise traditional power and prestige. Combined weight is 102grams.
Their distinctive design features a stylised representation of a spirit being with curved tail, pronounced ears, curling dual nose/trunk and clutching a pointed conical ‘leg’.

Vintage 20th Century North American Indian Navajo
contemporary silver and gemstone necklace
$185
Offered for sale is this stunning vintage 20th Century North American Indian sterling silver and gemstone necklace, most likely from the Navajo Nation and estimated as dating from the 1970’s to 1980’s. Despite research the maker (using a hallmark or either ‘PJ’ or a small capital ‘D’ and ‘J’) is currently unknown, however there are two possible families of origin (both Navajo). The first is the well-known Jones family (which includes Ev, Frances and Kenneth), the second is the Johnson family (including Peter Johnson). Both pieces are hallmarked 925 (the pendant is also marked ‘Sterling’ (italicised) with a total weight of 28grams (including the pendant).
The distinctive and eye-catching contemporary design features an independant pendant, circular in form and set with a cabochon-cut Malachite gemstone mounted in a shadow box (which are traditionally connected with Navajo silversmithing). This is suspended from two loops (that mimic those seen on North American Indian finger-rings). Complimenting this is a twisted, box-form open necklace/choker (which you could also wear by itself, or hang other pieces on). The design also allows for the pendant to be hung on a silver link chain if desired.
For those of the New Age persuasion, Malacite is regarded as a powerful and transformative stone - helping to support protective energies, promote deep healing and energise chakras.
A clever and attractive example of Mid-Century Modern jewellery created by a First Nation silversmith.
In excellent original condition. There is some very gentle patination to the silver, as you’d expect from a vintage jewellery item and not modern reproduction. The piece was gently cleaned before sale.
Antique/Vintage 19th/early-20th Century costume brooch
$35
Offered for sale is this antique/vintage late-19th/early-20th Century costume jewellery brooch, most likely dating from the 1890’s to 1920’s. The maker is unknown, however it is probably European in origin and there are two potential eras for construction. Firstly, it may be a piece of Victorian mourning jewellery. Secondly (and more likely), is it’s an Art Deco piece.
Set in a quality brass mount is an ovoid cabochon of gloss black material with two ovoid recesses and diagonal dividing bar. It’s not been able to determine what the cabochon is made of, but is initially cool to the touch and the reverse is unpolished with a rough, flat texture.
A quality piece, well-made.
You can wear this horizontally or vertically.
Measures 4cm x 2.5cm (approximately).

Using turquoise, mother-of-pearl, jet and hardstone, the inlaid design represents the sacred Sun Father. A critical figure in Zuni culture, the Sun Father is connected to the cycles of nature, fertility, joy and prosperity.
Of interest is that the maker has chosen to mount these upside-down, an unusual choice.
Each measures (excluding loops) 2.5cm x 2.5cm approximately.
Please check the photos as they form part of the item description. The last two shows the pieces before the silver tarnishing was carefully removed.

$120
Offered for sale is this vintage 20th Century silver and turquoise pendant and chain, most likely made in North America and dating from the 1980’s to 1990’s. Despite research the maker is unknown, but the notched-mount and overall styling indicates them possibly being Zuni or Navajo in origin.
The striking contemporary design features a large irregular turquoise, cabochon-cut and set in a notched mount. The stone has a lovely robins-egg blue colour, good weight and features silver inclusions in the upper dark veining. Surrounding the mount are a series of eight open ‘feathers’, with one having a beaded finish.

Vintage 20th Century Zuni Nation silver and turquoise
Rising Sun necklace
$175
Offered for sale is this vintage 20th Century USA-made (Zuni nation) silver and turquoise three-strand beaded necklace, most likely dating from the 1970’s to 1980’s. Unfortunately there is no makers mark than can identify an individual craftsperson (there are both 925 and sterling marks).
The elegant design features a Rising Sun pendant - which in Zuni tradition represents abundance, stability, positivity, happiness and peace. The central boss is an ovoid cabochon turquoise form, set in silver with dividing compartments. Suspended from this are five stylised feathers. Each lower turquoise strand terminates in a bridging section before changing into an upper silver strand that meets the clasp.

Spanish Galleon brooch
$70
Offered for sale is this vintage 20th Century silver and macasite pin brooch, most likely made in Germany and dating from the 1950’s to 1960’s. Weight is 9 grams.
The design is most wonderfully absurd – a Spanish treasure galleon in full sail! It’s depicted in a high level of detail using an unusual ¾ perpective, heading ‘away’ from the viewer and ‘towards’ the wearer.
In very good overall condition. There are three marcasites missing (as pictured) – which any competent jeweller could source and re-set; the safety pin is also absent (again, could be returned if felt needed).

Vintage 20th Century costume jewellery brooch Grandma chic
$35
Offered for sale is this vintage 20th Century floral spray costume-jewellery brooch, most likely dating from the late-1940’s to 1950’s. Despite being unmarked, the designer is possibly (or heavily influenced by) the iconic Australian jewellery designer Donald Simpson (possibly for Jewelquest). Its style reflects his hallmark trademark selection of quality paste stones, sense of fun/intelligence and deftness of skill in its creation. Many of his pieces were floral sprays - and carry a similarity of style.
The dramatic and charming design features a multi-branched floral bouquet with graduated brilliant and baguette-cut paste stones. Three (baguette) deep ruby-coloured stones act as highlights, whilst a fourth (brilliant) anchors the bouquet at its bunching-point. There is also an element of ‘en tremblant’ to the setting – whilst not actually spring-set there is the potential for slight movement in some of the branches (to catch the light and add interest).
In excellent original condition – appears to have been never (or only lightly) worn. Please note the inner pin-catch is not present (but would be easy to replace).
Measures 7cm x 5.5cm (approx.).

UNIQUE Vintage 20th Century Australian WW2
sweetheart medallion
$75
Offered for sale is this charming and unique 20th Century Australian WW2 ‘sweetheart’ medallion, dating from 1939 to 1945. Unfortunately the identity of both individuals is unknown. There is a small hallmark on the reverse, but it cannot be identified.
The one-off design features two small circular hand-coloured pictures mounted in white metal: one of an Australian Air Force member (wearing his cap at a wonderfully jaunty angle, it’s got to be said); and opposite his wife/girlfriend/sweetheart. A wonderful expression of devotion and love at a time that would have held great uncertainty – and which of course poses a series of questions: who were these individuals? Did the airman survive? If not married when he joined enlisted, did he return and they lived happily-ever-after?
A wonderful social history/Australian WW2 military collectable or perfect for a WW2 costume/re-enactment enthusiast.

Based in Gulgong (NSW) since 2007, this is one of his more unusual designs (as most work focuses on inspiration from native flora and fauna).
The ovoid bracelet features four rectangles intersected by stacked wires at (roughly) equal intervals. Its simple and powerful design reflects a possible primitive/Bronze Age influence and could easily sit alongside museum examples (albeit made in copper, silver or gold) dating from around 2000-700BC.
Over time the pewter has taken on a warm, soft silvery lustre.
Measures 6.5cm (diameter) x 22cm approximately.

2 x Antique/Vintage 20th Century glass crystal beads
boho chic
$40
Offered for sale is this pair of vintage 20th Century hand-strung crystal/glass bead necklaces, most likely dating from the 1920/30’s to 1950’s.
The first is an extra-long, metallic-finish (over faceted black oval beads) necklace – created in imitation of cut-steel and most likely from the 1920/30’s. These have a great sparkle and would look brilliant on a ‘flapper’ dress (or you can easily double them up for a 1950’s-glamour look). Strung using the old technique of knotting between each bead. The beads are heavy and of obvious quality. There is patination which confirms their being correct vintage items and not modern. Total length is 1.2m (approx.).
The second is a choker-style necklace made from graduated clear cut-crystal beads and most likely dating from the 1950’s. The beads throw a subtle rainbow glimmer that’s very 50’s evening-wear style. There is patination which confirms their being correct vintage items and not modern. Total length is 40cm (approx.).
